International Sickle Cooperation (ISC)
is a non-profit association whose purpose is to help maximize the physiological, psychological, and social well-being of people living with sickle cell disease in Angola, with a special focus on patients themselves.

Faith in Action for Sickle Cell.
We are dedicated to restoring lives affected by sickle cell disease through health diplomacy, compassionate partnerships, and faith-informed action.
From our base in Maryland, USA we work as a bridge between communities in Angola, African and global diasporas, governments, and international partners to expand access to care, dignity, and hope for people living with sickle cell disease.
Our story is rooted in lived experience: ISC was founded by a diplomat personally affected by the condition, transforming a personal journey of pain and gratitude into a mission of service and restoration.
We focus especially on children, youth, and adults with sickle cell disease in Angola, where the burden of the disease is among the highest in the world and where gaps in diagnosis, treatment, and social protection remain profound. Guided by our mission to unite communities, governments, and partners, we promote health equity through programs that strengthen local health services, support families, and amplify the voices of patients and caregivers who are too often invisible in policy decisions. Every initiative we design seeks to affirm the dignity, resilience, and spiritual and emotional well-being of those most affected.
Our vision is to restore lives, hope, and dignity through faith-led yet inclusive health diplomacy that reaches from New York to Luanda and beyond.
ISC’s work is grounded in values of compassion, responsibility, justice, and resilience, and we act as a trusted partner for churches, community organizations, health professionals, and policymakers committed to changing the trajectory of sickle cell disease. Together, we believe that every act of care — from a newborn screening to a family support visit — can change a life and help rewrite the story of sickle cell disease for future generations.
If you share this conviction, we invite you to stand with us. Your donation helps ISC expand life-saving sickle cell screening, treatment support, and family-centered programs in Angola, creating pathways of hope from New York to communities that are still waiting to be seen.
